Friday night, after 10pm, what a great timing to launch an experiment shop.
I just launched a society6-Shop, right now it only features one motif, but there will come more. I promise.
Here’s the first image that i’ve created and uploaded to society6.
I’m also looking into/hoping to find somebody to help me make some Shirts out of this/and other motifs.

That’s a good start into the week. This morning i got an e-mail from Igino letting me know that the artist of this piece is Franz von Bayros, and the artwork is part of a series called “Lesbische Reigen 1920″. Igino also provided the wikipedia-links.

This one started out as a quick sketch but then i scribbled and colorized all night until 6am just to change the colors and lighting again, after a couple of hours of sleep but with fresh eyes.
I think I’ll have to dust off my bristol paper sheets and train my analog brush/ink work. I don’t like doing Lineart like that in Photoshop. It just… lacks… charm.
And it’s a pain in the ass to do all those straight lines in 3point perspective. Seriously!

Daily Sketch #3
Decided that i will do one not-work related sketch every morning as a warmup. This is todays.
Tomorrow evening Arte will air a documentary about Sex & comix. If we’re lucky this documentary will be put online after airing.
Der erotische Comic feiert sein Comeback. Davon zeugen Luxus-Neuauflagen der Meister des Genres und eine neue Autorengeneration, die sich dieser Kunstform bemächtigt. Aus Anlaß eines der weltweit größten Comicfestivals, des “Festival International de la Bande Dessinée” im französichen Angoulême, begibt sich Arte auf die Reise in die Welt des erotischen Comics, seiner bewegten Geschichte und seiner Rolle in der Gesellschaft.
Neben den sehr persönlichen Missgeschicken und Schwächen, die auf erotisch-sexuellem Gebiet lauern, geht es in diesen Werken auch um Fantasievorstellungen, Gesellschaftssatire und Zensur. Die Autoren sind legendäre Zeichner wie Robert Crumb, Milo Manara und Ralf König, gefolgt von Nachwuchstalenten wie Aurélia Aurita, Aude Picault und Zep.
Durch die Sendung führt Molly Crabapple, entweder selbst im Bild oder als Kommentatorin. Die 27-jährige New Yorkerin ist eine ausgewiesene Kennerin des Faches: Sie begann ihre Karriere als Model, performt in Burlesque-Shows und illustriert selbst erotische Werke.Das Szenenbild der Dokumentation, durch das sich Molly Crabapple bewegt, ist den behandelten Comics nachempfunden.

I am referencing John Singer Sargents Chess Game a lot lately, it’s interesting to see how different the results turn out to be. You’ll probably wouldn’t have thought that the Chess Game was a colour ref for this image, but in the one you’ll get to see tomorrow it will be more obvious I think.
I am officialy on vacation right now and originally planned to spent my time wisely on something more valueable, but because there’s a lot of stuff going through my mind right now the pictures i do produce while on vacation turn out to be … more of a occupational therapy, unfortunately.
Seit einiger Zeit gibt es Probleme mit unserem Server. Diese Probleme haben wir versucht durch ein Software Update in den Griff zu bekommen, was allerdings zu noch mehr Problemen geführt hat (unter anderem, dass versch. Datenbanksinhalte nicht aus dem Backup wieder aufgespielt werden können, weshalb ich mich für Wochen nicht mal mehr einloggen konnte und weshalb es auch keine Kategorien derzeit gibt).
Wir werden in Kürze ein Server-Upgrade in Angriff nehmen und hoffen, dass dann alles wieder rund läuft.
Sobald das geschafft ist werde ich den Blog nochmal etwas umgestalten, da die derzeit geringe Schlagzahl an Blogposts diesen Aufbau nicht mehr rechtfertigt.
Dauert alles noch ein wenig. Ich hoffe Mitte spätestens Ende Juli (nach dem Skizzenfestival) kann ich wieder regelmäßig posten.
