This TED talks is for the concept artists.
James H Kunstler explains how the design of public spaces reflects the culture of its inhabitants. In his talk he goes into extremes to make a point, but still it is a good and quite funny talk.
This talk has influenced my understanding of concept art and what a concept artist should think about more than any artbook or workshop.

Aus Anlaß eines der weltweit größten Comicfestivals, des “Festival International de la Bande Dessinée” im französichen Angoulême, begibt sich Arte auf die Reise in die Welt des erotischen Comics, seiner bewegten Geschichte und seiner Rolle in der Gesellschaft.
Neben den sehr persönlichen Missgeschicken und Schwächen, die auf erotisch-sexuellem Gebiet lauern, geht es in diesen Werken auch um Fantasievorstellungen, Gesellschaftssatire und Zensur. Die Autoren sind legendäre Zeichner wie Robert Crumb, Milo Manara und Ralf König, gefolgt von Nachwuchstalenten wie Aurélia Aurita, Aude Picault und Zep.
Durch die Sendung führt Molly Crabapple, entweder selbst im Bild oder als Kommentatorin. Die 27-jährige New Yorkerin ist eine ausgewiesene Kennerin des Faches: Sie begann ihre Karriere als Model, performt in Burlesque-Shows und illustriert selbst erotische Werke.Das Szenenbild der Dokumentation, durch das sich Molly Crabapple bewegt, ist den behandelten Comics nachempfunden.

Eine Kleinigkeit die ich Anfang des Monats für Anne gemacht habe im Austausch für ihre Hilfe an einer Visitenkarte.
A little something i did for Anne earlier this month in exchange for some help with a business card.
Till is … special. Not just is he a very sympathetic guy and one of the nicest people i’ve ever met, he is also an illustrator who seems to be fearless of whatever. If you watch him draw, if you see his bold, expressive paintstrokes right from the start, watch him put watercolorspots into a not even half finished figure drawing, see him play around with tape to get some sort of shapeplay on the paper… it’s just marvelous. I hope to once gather as much confidence into my abilities as he has done for his. It’s a great pleasure to see his work and see him work.

A book about hohlweins work.But it’s basically out of print.
WiPNation is a site dedicated to giving and recieving critique to get better with your painting/drawing/designing skills. Personally i haven’t had any experience with it yet, it’s still on my “have to check it out”-list.
As every community it’s quality depends vastly on the members, and the number of the members. There are a few quite good artists active on WiPnation, but also quite often you won’t get so much response. I guess “you do me and i do you” also applies to this site. So be sure to comment on others works as well if you’re trying to get some feedback for your stuff.
I’m currently listening to this and having tons of fun with it. I’d agree to illustrate a comic from that any time.
It’s a story about monsters, gun nutted americans, very manly characters – male & female, and just too much fun to stop listening.
Oh, and of course nazi vampires! how could i forget about those.

Oh und er hat mich einmal portraitiert. Nicht unbedingt seine beste Arbeit aber das liegt eher an seinem Motiv als an ihm. Ich hab das Portrait in seine Arbeitsproben übernommen.
If it wasn’t for Roberto, i probably wouldn’t make a living from drawing. Not just did he first explain to me the numbers that i would have to achieve once i’m out of school. More importantly he taught me that if you want to be good at something, it being drawing, painting, design, whatever – it’s all just practise.
Roberto himself is a very good artist, caricaturist and absolute do-gooder.
Oh and he painted a portrait of me once. Not his best work but that’s because of the subject, not because of him. I included it in the work samples.

There doesn’t seem to be much behind the short, but it has great visuals! I just enjoy the simplistic woodcut like shapes, strong flat colors and iconic compositions.

Take a little bit of rango, a lot of Z-Brush and phototexture work and see an overstylized western short. Lots of grit, noise, sharpen, bloom and hard contrasts.

Das ging schnell nicht wahr? Tja scheint so als würde das Maintenance-Plugin nicht verhindern dass Posts über den RSS-Feed rausgeschickt werden, d.h. diejenigen von euch die meinen Blog via RSS verfolgen dürften sich wundern was hier passiert.
Schauts euch an. Ich hab noch nichts am Design verändert, bisher habe ich lediglich Theme-Funktionen und Plugins ausprobiert und angefangen meine Freundesliste in das Artikel-System zu übertragen.
Dann muss ich das wohl in aller Öffentlichkeit machen. Tut mir leid.
That was fast, wasn’t it? Well it turned out that the maintenance plugin doesn’t stop the rss-feed from functioning, so those of you watching my blog from afar might be wondering what’s going on.
Well have a look. I didn’t tinker with the design yet, just testing out functionality, testing plugins and transcribing my friend-list to the new, post-driven format.
Seems like i have to do the working in public. Sorry ’bout that.

LJones is a producer out of Toronto, Canada. His debut release is a collection of songs from late 2009 to early 2011.
“I got into Hip Hop young and easily since a lot of my older cousins were teenagers during the 90s. Some even were breakers, turntablist, and taggers. I started out with breaking, but gave that up for a set of turntables. I was always interested in the beat making process since i’ve been a fan of old records but my interest really grew as i started DJing. I didn’t seriously think of making beats till after I heard Nujabes when I was about 16, Hearing his songs and the very moving melodies with the boom bap drums of the golden era, really inspired me. I worked part time jobs and bought my own MPC when I was 18 and since then I’ve been trying to make beats and find my ‘sound’.”

Gegenwärtig so häufig im Netz anzutreffen wie ein Dodo, war/ist Igino dennoch ein Quell der Inspiration und im Gespräch mit Ihm konnte ich sehr viel lernen.
Currently as active on the web as a dodo but Igino has been and still is a source of inspireation for me and i have learned a great deal from him in our conversations.

Hank ist nicht nur ein Meister der klassischen Ölmalerei, er hat sich außerdem innerhalb kürzester Zeit mit digitaler Malerei vertraut gemacht und kann damit mittlerweile fast genau so gute Bilder produzieren wie mit Öl auf Leinwand.
Er ist außerdem auch großer Fan der Game of Thrones-Reihe – und das schon bevor der Hype anfing.
Hank is not just a master of traditional oilpainting, in no time he learned and mastered digital painting as well and his digital paintings nowadays are almost the quality that his traditional stuff has. He’s also a huge fan of Game of thrones – since before the hype started!
